MentoBox Workshop Food Drive
Rhy’s Above Youth Volunteers paint the donation drop boxes bold and loud to stand out at Iron Hill!
At Rhy’s Above, we believe growing healthy Mental health means more than talking about feelings or trying therapy. It’s so much more, like showing how connection, compassion, and acts of kindness nurture one another. It’s an incredible way to foster resiliency and build healthy communities.
That’s why we’re excited to pair our upcoming MentoBox Workshop at Beaver Creek with a Community Food Drive.
Food Insecurity and Mental Health
Not knowing when or where your next meal is coming from creates chronic stress, fear, and feelings of hopelessness. That’s heavy weight no matter your age, let alone for young hearts.
Research shows even brief periods of food insecurity impact a child’s ability to learn, grow, and feel safe. It’s the age-old story; Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs refresher, anyone? Without basic physiological needs met, we cannot thrive.
Children and families who experience food insecurity are at a much higher risk for anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Lack of nutrients takes a toll on body and mind. It gets harder to sleep. Harder to focus. Harder to trust. Harder to hope. Harder to live. Addressing hunger is about more than food. It’s about protecting one another. Offering dignity, stability, and a state of belonging in our community.
MentoBox Workshop: Act for Impact
Our MentoBox Workshops are rooted in the five senses and designed to help kids recognize the power of their actions. How actions can inflame or tame big feelings. How the act of reaching out when they need help is personal power. How actions born of kindness and compassion are connective tools for building amazing communities. And communities that act together stand the strongest. #DowningtownStrong
Paired with a food drive, the workshop provides a direct opportunity to Act for Impact as a community.
Let’s Stand Strong Together
